Default Firefighter gear lost Champaign to College Station

I guess I'm hoping to find someone on this site who is complaining about getting the wrong red bag, maybe I'm too optimistic but if you happened to know of anyone who was surprised to find a set of firefighter bunker gear in your red bag... I really need it! I'll share my note to AA to further explain...
My bag containing all of my firefighter gear was lost and I have jumped thru all of AA's hoops, sent receipts etc and have yet to be contacted about the status of my claim. I have been unable to respond to emergencies without this equipment, this opens me (and AA, by default) up to many liabilities. I really just want my bag back, but if that is not possible I need to at least know that I will receive compensation so I can order new equipment.
I understand that you folks deal with a huge number of people and therefore require some time, but it has been well over a month. I will be logging a complaint with airlinecomplaints.org and DOT aviation consumer protection division if I am not contacted today.
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.
