Unhappy Alaska Airlines - I need your help with this issue.

AA Mechanical Delay - Stuck in Mexico with NO HELP from AA

During my recent trip to Cozumel, Mexico I encountered flight delays on my return flight for mechanical issues with AmericanAirlines aircraft on the dates of February 4th and 5th. Therefore, I was unable to make my connecting flights for two days. I spoke with Natalie at American Airlines ticket counter at Cozumel Airport on February 4th, 5th, and 6th. She was very attentive, concerned and done all she could to look for other flights on both days. She spoke with her management about paying for a room & meals during those days of delays in Cozumel. Her management told her that it was Alaska Airlines responsibility to pay for my expenses. So, I called Alaska Airlines and they stated that American Airlines was responsible due to mechanical issues with its own aircraft. In return I called American airlines and was told that it was Alaska Airlines responsibility since I booked the trip with them. I feel that it was American Airlines responsibility to have provided me with a room and meals during my delay per AA airline contract. If it had been an Alaska Airline aircraft mechanical issue, then it would fall under their contract. Along with travel expenses, I also missed work and incurred child care expense during my delay. I paid all of this out of my pocket. There is no worse feeling being in another country with no help from anyone. On my return flight I ask AA if I could travel in Business class because of the delays I had, AA said no. I boarded the flight back to the USA and walk past the empty first class seats. American Airlines had really let me down. I have sent letters to AA and Alaska Airlines with a statement from AA stating that these delays were mechanical issues. I am hoping for a postive response. Upon receiving a response from Alaska or AA. I will post their response.J. Peters

Just from all the statistics I have read from the US Department of Transportation on that airline I wont fly them. They ranked one of the worst US Carriers for ontime arrivals. They also use very old aircraft which are outdated, and I feel could be dangerous. I feel American Airlines ripped you off like a sucker at a used car lot. If you would have booked the flight through Expedia or Travelocity, would they be responsible for American's old flying junk breaking down? No. It would be American Airlines fault. Read your terms and conditions in your ticket agreement. I bet if what everything you said is true, then you would probably had a good chance in small claims court. (Im not a lawyer, and this is not any legal advice.)

American Airlines did contact me today and issued a $200 voucher. So, the issue has been resolved.

Default Alaska cancelled my direct flight

Alaska cancelled my direct flight and put me on a flight with a layover. Initially, when I booked there was a direct flight from PDX to Cabo San Lucas. Just recently I got an email saying that this flight wasn't available and now I have to fly much longer. Is there any way to get a refund?

Answered this in the thread you started. Why did you post this twice?

Evidently the Portland to Cabo route was not a money-maker, and they cancelled the route. That's an inherent risk of purchasing a ticket too far in advance. Route cancellation is pointed out on your contract of carriage, aka ticket.

Alaska didn't cancel the route. The changed from non-stop to same-plane one-stop service via San Diego.
