Ridiculous Refund
On October 24th I received a notice from American Airlines that my flight from St. Louis to DFW would be delayed. This delay would have led to my missing my connection from DFW to Guadalajara. I called American Airlines to request a refund if I booked on another airline so I would not miss my connection at DFW. After much back and forth with a supervisor, the customer service representative assured me I could apply for a refund on the flight segment from St. Louis to DFW when I got back after taking the flight to Guadalajara.
When I got home I went online and applied for my refund as directed. On November 1st I received an email response that a refund of $82.26 would be issued to my credit card. Considering the best price for a one way ticket from St. Louis to DFW was $276 and I had to spend $239.98 on another airline, which took me to Love Field in Dallas. Then I had to arrange to get from Love Field to DFW to make my flight to Guadalajara.
I wrote to American Airlines to question the amount of the refund, but received no satisfaction.
I will certainly not book another flight on American Airlines in the future.
