American Airlines did not provide refund or credit when they canceled the flight!
My wife and I had flight tickets on American from March 2020 which were canceled by COVID. We had until end of March 2022 to use them. We booked flights for March 17 2022 to take our kids on spring break and less than 12 hours before the flight American canceled the flight via text message. There was no good reason - all other airline were still flying - so we scrambled and booked on another airline. Now American won’t refund us or credit our flights saying that the March 2022 deadline on that original flight credit still holds even though it was their canceled flight that prohibited me from using it. All of their customer service agents want to help and believe I should get refunded but are powerless to do anything except refer me to the Customer Relations website where I have explained my situation and submitted for a refund only to get a form email reply you cannot answer back or call. It is very frustrating, incredibly unfair and shows that they have no desire to actually help customers - they intentionally make it difficult to get refunds/credits.
