Date of Occurrence: November 9, 2008
Place of Occurrence: American Airlines – Miami Airport

On returning home from a fantastic business trip, I encountered an obnoxious, belligerent “Curbside employee” at American Airlines in Miami. After a long business week, the trip had taken it toll on me physically. By the time I reach American Airlines in Miami, and carrying my heavy luggage, I was feeling really bad with a sore throat, and minor chest pains.

Arriving at the curbside check-in, I could not tell where the line began or ended. I
went to the side of a check-in employee, named DIJOUR FRANDEAU. I was
waiting until he finished with a customer so I could ask him a question. All of
sudden he turned toward me and started ranting and raging like a mad dog foaming
at the mouth.

He stuck his finger in my face and shouted, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!
YOU ARE NOT SUSPOSED TO BE ON THIS SIDE! MY BOSS IS WALKING THROUGH HERE!
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING! GET OUT OF HERE!

At this point I was in shock and felt threaten. I looked at his waist to see if
he was carrying a gun. My mind was racing thinking he was about to physically
harm me. I was temporarily frozen with shock. Because I did not move
quickly, he continues to yell at me pointing his finger violently in my face.

Finally, I said in a NON-confrontational tone, “I’m sorry I did not know where
the line begins or ends,” and walked away from him as fast as I could go. By then
the pain in my chest got worst and I was scare I was having a heart attack.

I glance back and, Mr. DIJOUR FRANDEAU, walk a little way after me still shouting loud with his hand waving in the air and shouted,
ANY FOOL WITH COMMON SENSE CAN TELL WHERE THE LINE BEGINS!

I was frighten and humiliated in front of other passengers.

I started crying and composed myself as much as I could and went to another
Check-in employee to check my luggage and get my boarding pass so that I could catch my flight.

If I had more time I wanted to find Mr. Dijour Frandeau’s boss so that I could inform him of this barbaric man behavior.

And yes, I was fortunate to get his name while being waited on by another check-in employee, Mr. Dijour Frandeau, walked over to that employee to talk to him about something and that’s when I looked at his ID with his name on it and secretly wrote it down.

note: this complaint is also posted in the "Boarding/Check In" section of this website. I want people to know that in this day and age of being civilized-- that the uncivilized actions of others do happen in businesses where you expect employee or people in customer service to act in a professional manner.

You should file a complaint to the airline. Maybe this guy has a history of treating people bad and it might take one more complaint to get something done.

assumning curbside is the same in Miami as it is in NY/NJ, those are vendors, the guys that work for tips, not so much affiliated with the airline. You should get the company name and also spoke with his "boss", because no matter what that kind of attitude isn't called for.

Even if they are vendors, they are working on behalf of AA and you should file a complaint with AA and if you know who the vendor is, with them also. It is unlikely you are the first victim of this bully and you are unlikely to be the last. Nothing will change unless people take the time to file their complaints. Over time a pattern will emerge and they will get busted.

I agree and good advice it is however Miss Dee Joy's profile has this.......Last Activity: 11-12-2008 04:52 AM.

She hasn't been back since the day she posted this review over 14 months ago. Pretty good chance she's gonna lose out on seeing it. Her loss.

One thing PHX did, that no one else takes the time to do, is research flights that someone complains about. He dug up what facts could be found about a given flight or airport.

The rest of us are lazy.

To the complaint at hand, most of those curbside check-in's at the airports I fly out of are airport contractors, and that handle all the airlines. Just because the guy was assigned in front of AA, doesn't make him an AA employee or agent.

And, as I recall, those facts almost always favored the airline side. I’m not saying PHX posted bogus information (although I wouldn’t rule that out!) However, both sides on this board have a disincentive to post information favorable to the “other side.”

It’s obvious I favor the consumer side. However, it’s equally obvious PHX favored (most of the time) the airlines. Indeed, up until around February 19, 2009,he was identifying himself as a “Flight Attendant” in his “Yahoo Answers” profile. Whether the flight attendant identification is true, or a lie, has been debated on this board. The point is the fact that, at one time, PHX chose to say this about himself says something about his allegiance to the airline industry. As I recall, the “flight attendant” reference was removed around the same time he was being questioned, on this board, because he failed to identify himself as an airline employee.

For anyone who is interested I can e-mail a scanned copy of the Yahoo Answers webpage with said “flight attendant” reference. However I would expect PHX’s supporters to say I photoshoped the “flight attendant” entry.

The following is PHX’s “Answers” profile on February 19, 2009:

About me: Flight Attendant. Native New Yorker now residing in Phoenix, AZ

The following is PHX’s “Answers” profile AFTER February 19, 2009:

About me: Native New Yorker now residing in Phoenix, AZ. Travel frequently for work and leisure.

The last entry can also be found at:
