Default Not able to check-in / no assistance

Bonjour,

I just come back from US and here is my story.
Me and my family (5 persons) were confirmed on a Continental Airlines Los Angeles / Houston / Miami last sunday morning at 06:30am. I needed to be in miami by night to catch an other plane next morning to go back to my country (french guiana, two planes per week). I was at the airport at 04:00am, and started to go for the line. A long minutes after, it was impossible to check in with the machine (I was said the reason was that the reservations were made Air France, and that it was a known problem). So I asked for an agent assistance. No agent was available within 30 minutes (they were two agent to care about all passengers). Finally, an agent took our passports, told me not to panic. He was waiting for his supersivor, took care about other passengers, and finally gave us back our plassports and said that the flight check-in was closed, and that we will not be able to take our plane. “Good bye, see for next planes, go on the line (!!!)”.
After 45 minutes, we‘ve been placed on the standby list. All the plane to houston were full, and after 3 flights, no more than 3 people on the standby list got places (we were number18 !!!). As we needed to be in miami at night to take our plane the next morning, I called flying blue who told me all planes (continental and delta) were full and they had no solution for me to bring us to miami on time. “See with Air france desk, goodbye”. I did not have time left to go to Air France desk and in a hurry, we finally bought tickets on American Airlines. Me and two childrens bought the three last seats on a direct Los Angeles/Miami. My wife and my third child bought two seats on a Los Angeles/Las Vegas/Miami. We met at 6am at miami airport the next morning and were able to got our plane to French Guiana.
Total cost for not having been able to check in during 2 hours : 2600 USD.

Nota : my tickets were reward tickets, so I guess I cannot be refund.

What can I do ?
Sorry for my bad english.

Laurent

You have to take your complaint to Air France, which is where the problem started. Since there's no explanation as to what actually happened with the tickets, other than a problem with air france, you might wanna start there. You might even be able to get back some of those miles since you did not take your LAX-IAH-MIA.
