On the July 18, 2016 Qatar airport staff at the Nairobi airport refused my kids Shariffa and Aisha Muhdhar to board a flight to the US. My kids are US resident travelling on a Kenyan passport; they never allowed us to reach the immigration desk. Their action led us to;
1. miss a flight on July 18, 2016
2. spend five days in Nairobi with three children
3. miss four days of work
4. and had to pay $3700 for another flight on July 22, 2016
We had to go back to the US embassy in Nairobi who gave the two kids temporary US passport proving they were US residents.
The Qatar airline staff involved are; Sammy (claimed to be the Qatar airline airport manager), Luanda victoria, and Timothy Akal. When I wanted to leave Sammy kept on holding me until the plane left convincing me that the kids will be cleared to board. Luanda victoria came and told me that I can board but Shariffa, 8 years old has to be left behind, which led to my kid crying uncontrollably. I do not understand how somebody can tell an 8 year old to stay behind, am not sure who she wanted her to stay with. There is very poor work ethics among the Qatar airlines; Sammy was telling me to wait, when I went to the toilet Luanda came and took away passport from Aisha and wanted them to leave. Sammy was telling me to wait Luanda came with a piece of paper wanting to remove Shariffa and Aisha from the list
On our eventually travel date July 22, 2016, Sammy Akal held my passport for over one and a half hours claiming that I have been in Kenya for over three month, according to him any US citizen who has been in Kenya for over three month had to be cleared by the US border control, my passport had a Kenya entry visa on June 21st 2016 am wondering where he came with the over three month stay.
I suspect there is a corruption cartel involving the Qatar employees at the Nairobi airport together with a US embassy employee (border control named Rotich), please launch an investigation.
From Qatar airlines I want the following compensation;
1. a refund of my $3700 tickets
2. five days stay in Nairobi with three kids
3. four days of work which I missed
4. the inconvenience and stress that I went through.
All documents are available for verification when needed; including tickets, children passport, photos of the named Qatar employees and any other support papers needed.
