Default delta cancels flight and doesn't notify

I'm leaving from Atlanta for Jackson, WY tomorrow morning and just checked status of my flight out tomorrow morning at 8:30am and found the flight has been canceled. I'm now on a 10:55am flight. The bad thing is I made this reservation far in advance and had a nice comfy seat...now I'm stuck in a middle seat for the long first leg to Salt Lake City. Delta never informed me of the change...if I hadn't checked this evening I would have showed up at the airport tomorrow at 6:30am (2 hours in advance) to find my flight was changed. Delta sucks!

Default Bring a winter jacket!!

If you are able to travel, from Atlanta to Jackson, in one day, and all of your baggage arrives with you--consider yourself lucky!

Booking into first class is the only way, nowdays, one can travel a US airline, and be guaranteed of a decent seat. Seat selection for coach--when it's even available--is about as predictable as your state lottery.

Further, first class, all the way into Jackson, is hard to come by, unless you are traveling on American Air (sucks even MORE than Delta!) and are connecting in Chicago. Otherwise, first class is available only as far as Salt Lake City, or Denver. Then it's the puddle jumper--MAYBE a regional jet, if you're lucky--for the hour flight to Jackson.

If you haven't, already, left for the airport, pack a winter jacket. Unlike Atlanta, and the rest of the east, it's still cold around here at night. I'm at 4200 feet, and Jackson is about 6000. Also, we've been having a lot of rain.

For your return trip, the Jackson Hole Airport site advises check-in 2 hours prior to scheduled departure. The Airport website link appears below:
