Angry Unreasonable Baggage Fees

JetBlue charges $150 for any bag that weighs over 1 lb more than their 50 lb limit. That is more than the value of a ticket from LA to Boston - an entirely unreasonable sum. Since passengers may not know that their bag weighs >1 lb too much until they check in, it is also unfair.
The Department of Transportation should regulate airline fees and prevent this kind of unreasonable behavior.

Usually anything over 50lbs is the discretion of the agent at the time of check-in. The higher fee for overweight is very fare. It is meant to keep people from packing too much stuff in their bags, also, consider that the heavier the bag for more chance for the employee to get injured etc....

you do know that it is agent's discretion on when they will or will allow any overweight to slide. Also many people pre weigh their bags prior to coming to the airport, and many airlines provide scales for bag weighing prior to check-in.
