![]() EL AL are disgusting. International flight as small as domestic SAA. A woman cut her foot open on metal jutting out of seat at floor. Another woman with a baby in distress pressed button to call attendant and nobody came at all. No drinks were served. Totally understaffed. Bad staff attitude. Food disgusting. Ancient aircraft - old gum stuck everywhere. Dirty tissues lying everywhere. Below legal requirement for staff to Pax ratio. Luggage lost for 3 days. Was sent to another country by mistake. No apology. I was promised total refund on clothing purchased for the 3 days. They refunded me less than 1 third of what I spent and I was not at all unreasonable. ANAT GRANIT is a rude cow at EL AL in Israel who does not care at all about customers who did not receive their baggage. LIARS. . . . LIARS. . . . LIARS. . . . LIARS. . . . LIARS. . . .LIARS Flying EL AL has been the worst experience of my life. Now I know what it means when they say you get what you pay for. I will gladly pay an extra few thousand rand next time to go Turkish air or ANY other airline but will never again fly EL AL. They are so concerned about their security issues they forget all about their customers. They make you feel like a criminal and treat you like a dog during flight. Maybe they should stop worrying so much about security and give a little manpower to how they treat their customers. I was made to feel like a stray dog causing a major inconvenience and I had a day in hell. Not to mention 2 days of my expensive holiday spent trying to purchase clothing, cosmetics and toiletries in a foreign country and not knowing where to go. They didn't even care or phone me once. I had to phone them about 5 or 6 times a day. SHAME ON YOU, EL AL, YOU'RE DISGUSTING * * * ! ! ! * * *

just to help you out a bit...stay away from Turkish Air. you'll find the same problems with them. although the cabin crews are nice.

Just curious, where were you flying from/to? Knowing the city pairs may help to offer other suggestions for airlines to use next time.

Thanks guys.
I was flying on the leg from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Tel Aviv, Israel. It was the only direct flight available. My husband went Turkish Air via Istanbul and had to take a connecting flight. He said it was an absolute pleasure and would definitely go that route again. I have also heard since, from others, that generally EL AL is a shocking airline with staff that don't actually care at all about their passengers. They never smile and are obviously underpaid for them to hate their jobs so much. Linda. ![]() |

Linda, your original post shows a lot of unnecessary emotion which diminishes the strength of your claim. Also I'm not sure what was "treating you like a dog during the flight" but it doesn't sound like something for which you can get compensation. But when you have a serious claim, don't water it down with things like "they dont smile". Its nice when people in the service industry smile with you, but if they don't, so be it. Stay with what you can be compensated for, otherwise it is a "worry issue", a problem for which there is no remedy.
Unless you have already signed something accepting the one-third in full and final settlement, I would suggest that you stay with the real issue here which is reimbursement for purchases for essentials needed during the 3 days when you were without your luggage. BTW you are also entitled to claim for a return trip to the airport to collect the lost bag if you used paid for that transport back. Your best course is to write a crisp and dry (leaving out all your emotion) letter to the airline demanding reimbursement for all your purchases, including taxis used to get to do your shopping for essentials, with a threat to put it in the hands of your Attorney if they don't pay. Thanks very much for all the info. I wish I had known sooner but I did sign the form accepting the one-third.
It would just be great if all the public could be aware of what I went through, and that they saw the light that EL AL Airlines is so concerned about security issues, that everything else goes by the wayside. Also have witnesses that they actually lied to me about being refunded for my clothing. To go to an attorney would end up taking months and would also cost me a lot more in the process. All I can do now is warn the rest of the world as to this very unfortunate incident and that EL AL Airlines is the most shocking uncaring airline around. ![]() |

Our EL AL flight took off and returned to Tel Aviv because of mechanical problems. We sat on the plane for 4 hours and missed our connecting flight with EasyJet in London. We had to stay overnight in a hotel and buy new tickets on EasyJet. We lost $500 and a day of paid for vacation and EL AL refuses to compensate us in any way. Our request for an upgrade to business class on our return leg was rejected. They offered to consider any expenses we had during the delay ie while we were sitting on the plane!
