Thumbs down overbooked 24 hr in AD. Horrible customer service. Horrible airport hotel.

I am writing this to let others know about the worlds "leading airline" and the worst customer service experience of my life.

I booked my flight to Bkk from Jeddah about 5 months in advance to make sure I got the seat and a cheap flight.

I reach Abu Dhabi and head straight to the transfer desk or as I now call it the desk of I'll mannered and poorly trained aggressive airline representatives. I encountered 3 horrible representatives out of a total of 5.

The first was a little Asian woman with an attitude problem. She was already busy patronising a poor old Pakistani man when I got to her. She looked at me with the most unenthusiastic glare I have ever encountered and told me the flight is.. Surprise surprise. Overbooked and I will have to go and wait at the boarding desk like a clown to be told. Yes you guessed it. That my wife and I would have to get on the next plane. We went to the transfer desk in the departure terminal and encounter etihad goon number 2. An Egyptian who seemed more interested in talking to his Arab girlfriend who just came up and started having a conversation with him halfway through my visit to him.

He tries to make it look like its my f.... Fault that they overbooked the flight. Are you serious? I ask. This is your company's fault as an airline for overbooking my flight. And who over books in Christmas anyways? are you expecting people not to visit their loved ones during this period? He tells me to calm down and gives me a 300 dollar voucher to use next time I book with etihad. Does he really think that will happen after this? He would have been better off giving me a f... Mars bar chocolate it would have been more use.

So we find out the next flight is 24 hours away. So we are owed compensation in the form of accommodation. Surprise surprise the airport hotel is full? Oh. So its not just me you have f... Over today huh? So they keep promising to put me in a nice hotel but first my wife needs to get a visa to get to the hotel 100 metres away from the airport. Something that never f.. Happened BTW. So we wait and wait for 12 hours on the uncomfortable reclining chairs they have. And we return to find etihad goon number 3.

A Filipino guy who gives me a lecture about the immigration process in gulf States. Do I care? Not really. And I let him know and ask him to understand my situation a little. I move to the representative next to him as he isn't being very helpful. As I do this he turns to his friend beside him and starts talking about me and how much of an ******* I am. All this in front of his supervisor who couldn't care less what is going on. Are you serious? I just walk away and let my wife deal with these scum bags as I had had enough by now and was half way jumping over the counter to teach these guys the meaning of customer service.

So he tells her airport hotel is full. We go to the airport hotel and find 3 vacant cabins. Yes they had cabins as they decided to renovate the whole f... Hotel during Xmas. So we tell the transfer desk to stop the bull sh.. And call the airport hotel and book us our accommodation as we are owed. And we eventually get the cabin. The cabin was horribly small you could hear everyone else as these cabins were just litre rooms with separators like you see in an office building.

Shame on you etihad. Shame on you. And shame on me for ever choosing your budget airline of the year.

Surprise surprise. No reply from the etihad representative. Is what I have written not to your liking dear sirs? Sometimes the truth is hard to hear. Will you not even acknowledge your wrong doing?

Hello bkktraveller I think Etihads account has been suspended? I saw this on another thread. that could be why you have no response maybe?

What an awful experience you had. did you find any other way to contact them to complain? I used [email protected]. 2 days, Still waiting .......

Thanks for your information. No. No reply from Etihad as of yet. I will try the feedback email you have supplied. Thank you.
