improved baggage notification
Recently I flew from BOI to SAV, but with the recent storm that hit the east coast that cancelled a lot of flights my bags were taken off at my final connection in IAD without my knowledge due to letting people on that missed their connections at that airport. Only reason I found out they weren't lost was after sitting on hold for 2 hours with united baggage service because the line at the ticket kiosk was 3+ hours long and none was in the baggage claim office for United, which made me think.
I know the checked bags get scanned at every connection and sent to the airline the same way each individual checks in to the kiosk prior to boarding, so in the event that someone has the same misadventure that I had not too long ago, it would be a lot easier if the airlines were able to send either a notification e-mail or maybe add an extra part to their already pretty cool united airlines app that tells you where your bags were scanned in a way that resembles tracking a shipped package through the USPS. Therefore throwing away the needless hour+ wait time on the phone and making people more confident in their airline, in turn increasing the amount of returning customers.
Because coming from a customer's standpoint, it is very disturbing watching everyone from your flight but you get their bags from the carousel and not being able to find out where your bags are at.
