Cayman Airways Baggage Problem

We are a group of four people traveling from Miami Florida to Little Cayman. On Sept. 22. Our flight landed in Cayman Brac and we had a 2 hour layover and made a connection to Little Cayman. We cleared customs in the Brac, so I know our luggage made it there. Upon embarking on the connecting flight, the captain told the passengers that not all of their luggage was on the flight due to weight restrictions. Upon arrival in Little Cayman we found that all four of us and several other people had no luggage. The hotel told us that this happens regularly with Cayman Airways. The luggage was supposed to be delivered later that day, but as of 8:30 am the next day, we still have no luggage. I would avoid this airline at all costs, if you are flying to the islands. As much as I love Little Cayman, I do not feel that I can reccomend going there because of Cayman Airways.

Sounds like a weight and balance issue with the aircraft and the flight was
capped at X amount of pax and X amount of baggage for a few days.

With smaller aircraft, weight and balance can become safety critical.... I would prefer the captain to err on the side of caution than proceed. If I remember rightly, I think there was a crash as a result of this issue in Charlotte, NC in which everyone died. I think when flying to more remote locations which involves small aircraft this is one of the hazards of flying and perhaps you should take such disruption on the chin.

Not too long ago there was a singer of modern hip hop/fame and she had chartered a Cessna 402 to fly from the Bahamas to Florida, and the singer and other members who had accompanied her insisted on cramming in more pieces of equipment then she had come over with, and as the 402 tried to rotate off the runway they crashed do to being overloaded and too heavy.

That was in 2002 and the singer was Aaliyah, she was very talented. Her one and only movie role was in the title role in Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned which was released 6 months after her death.
