unplanned death
i recently was booked on flight AA 4380 from Boston to Toronto.
my flight was for a Thursday July 29th 2010. unfortunately my mother-in-law died Wednesday July 28th. this forced me to have to change my plans at the last minute and fly to toronto July 28th. when asking for a "bereavement" fare I was told none existed. further i was not allowed to change my Thursday flight to the Wednesday. i was forced to cancel my Thursday flight which cost me money and buy a new ticket for the same day which was about $900.00. when questioning the fares i was informed that flying the same day was the most expensive way to fly. that a person must plan ahead. i guess the next time someone dies in my family i will give them my airline schedule so everything works according to the airline rules. shame on the American Airlines. travelking |
They are utterly without conscience. It might be worth trying a different agent.. sometimes some are more sympathetic than others and provided you can provide proof will at least give you a credit.
