They canceled the flight and it took off anyway!
We received a call on Christmas that our flight was canceled for the following morning. We were disappointed but not surprised as there was a big storm coming the next day. We checked the computer and called but the wait times were long and the flight was still canceled. The next day...the flight took off! Now they do not want to give us a refund on the ticket. Unbelievable.
The good news is that we still have the audio message on our machine that proves American canceled the flight. The bad news is that NO ONE will talk to us. They make us fill out ridiculous little complaint forms and then respond with meaningless answers that do not address the issue. Have you ever heard of this? Do I have any recourse? |
Could the message you received have been a prank by someone you knew? Have you been able to check the caller ID to see if it was AA who called?

prank? no. It was also canceled on the website and at the 800 number at American Airlines. At this point I am giving it one more try and then small claims court.

Did the flight operate with passengers on it? In some cases a flight will cancel, but will still operate as a ferry flight ... meaning, without passengers. This is done to reposition a plane or to bring an airplane with a mechanical problem (where passengers are not allowed to fly) to one of the maintenance hubs.
